What does the treatment involve?
The procedure is a safe method for renewing the hair and stimulating regrowth of viable follicles. The treatment is performed using your own blood-derived growth factors (platelet rich fibrin matrix). This treatment is natural in that your own cells are used, treated with a chemical that is not foreign to the body, and injected into specified areas to stimulate regrowth. Since growth factors from your own blood are used, there should be no side effects from the material injected. The body reacts to the treatment as it does to a wound and immediately starts repairing the tissue. This builds the underlying tissue and increases blood flow to the area, thus stimulating hair follicle regeneration. The treatment is also often combined with other hair loss procedures (such as a laser cap for home use), medications, and/or supplements that will also be available to you through our office after a complete medical evaluation.
Is there any downtime or side effects?
There is potential for mild pain and bruising or swelling at the injection sites. This typically resolves within 3 days.
Patients can return to work and their normal routine immediately following treatment. You will be able to gently wash your hair the day after the treatment.
When will I see results?
It takes 3-4 weeks for the cellular regeneration process to begin and changes can continue for up to 12 weeks after the last treatment. It may take up to 6 months to see full effect due to growth cycle of hair.
